After the initial installation of SMS clients on Win98/W2K Pro workstation, the client workstation does not renew DHCP addresses with correct network mask. For example, before the SMS was installed, clients address was 192.168.10.1 with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. After the SMS client is installed, the next DHCP renew call would change the mask to 255.255.0.0. Lease duration has been set to 30 days and without the SMS, workstations are renewing the addresses without any issues.

Also, the network consists of Cisco Cat 5500 class switches with Fastpath turned off.

Please advise if DHCP server is causing class C address to change to Class B and how to prevent it.

Thanks.
