I have a Toshiba Protege 7140CT laptop with docking station. When it boot I hit F2 and then network boot. All I see is the MAC address. I cannot find the GUID of the machine. I have tried using the MAC address when I prestage the computer and padding it with zeros. Still no luck. Anybody HELP!?!?!
Thank you

It should be ok to do it with the MAC address. If say the MAC address is 21-32-a4-45-b7-AC then the guid would be using the mac address
[000000000000000000002132a445b7ac]You can also turn off respond only to approved clients, and start the RIS install, and watch the screen the last or second last screen should show the GUID.But as I stated above the MAC address with twenty zeros in front of it minus any dashes should work.

Yeah..... I know, I would like to avoid doing that. The problem is, these toshiba laptops do not have builtin NICs, it uses the docking station. So if the help desk were to switch docking stations somewhere or a docking station goes bad, then I loose that MAC address. If I was doing this myself I wouldn't have a problem.
The other thing is, I don't want to uncheck "respond only to approved clients" for security reasons. I don't want the help desk to call me everytime they need to RIS a machine.
I found a kixtart script that will get the GUID from windows, but that does not do me any good.
Oh well.. thank you

I did not mean that you leave it unchecked, you just start the RIS until the screen shows the GUID, stop the install at that point, recheck the only respond box, and enter the GUID that was provided by RIS itself.
