I found this statement on the Microsoft support site - referencing Windows 98 - Re: When a Device Driver is downloaded.
"For security, a signed file containing a text file, the Ident.cab cabinet file, is downloaded to ensure the server name it contains matches the name of the server from which it was downloaded."
I was trying to figure out why I was repeatedly getting the message when I turn on my computer about an unknown ident.cab file and asking if I wish to install it anyway.
