What is the best way to move mailboxes, distribution lists, public folders etc. from an existing exchange server (5.5) connected to an organizational site to another 5.5 server with upgraded hardware ?

Thanks

Probably by using the move server wizard (after testing in your lab.)

hi robert, the easyest and safest way is to add your new server to the existing site, then transfer all user accounts over the wire then replicate all public folders etc etc not forgetting once done to delete the old server from the site and remake your internet mail connector and all the trimmings and get a good backup before moving accounts with something like backup exec.. hope this helps

The best way, I think, is through using EXMERGE utility from Resource Kit. We have moved about to 300 mailboxes with data from one container to the new created. This is quite efficient and painless way.

Good luck.

I just did this a couple of weeks ago. I used Microsofts article Q155216 from there Knowledge Base. I followed that word for word and it worked great. Make sure you have a good backup before you start though. Good Luck.
