HI,
This may be a basic question, but I am just getting Exchange 2000 Enterprise up and running in a development invironment. My problem is that I need to host about 11 different e-mail domains. My root domain in Active Directory is BCSNW.COM.
The Exchange 2000 Enterprise server is the only mail server in my Active Directory.
Since I receive all my Internet mail on it, I have set SMTP to allow anonymous authentication. SO that I am not and open relay, I have unchecked the Allow all authenticated computers to relay checkbox.
When I send mail to USER@BCSNW.COM from a 3rd party mail server, all is well. I have added a second domain, LS1TRANSAM.COM to the default recipient policy and to my user's E-mail Addresses tab however. When I try to mail that address, I receive and NDR that basically says "USER NOT LOCAL:RELAY REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION" No matter what I do, I cannot manage to get Exchange 2000 Server to recognize this domain or any others (except for BCSNW.COM as local.
What am I missing? I have checked every document, knowledgebase, help file and search engine I can think of but all they say I need to do is add the addresses I want recognized as local to the Defaul Recipient Policy address tab.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

OK, so I made some progress. I have created some recipient policies that seem to have convinced the server that my additional domains are local when it receives mail from other SMTP servers.
Now the problem is that my users get "Unable to relay from USER@DOMAIN" anytime they try to send mail to non-local domains. It appears that the server is not recognizing the additional domains as local when users try to send via smtp.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I am about 1 step away from looking at other options. :(
Thanks,
Shan
