What is this?

I have around 8000 files in the directory WINNTSystem32 with the name:
"security=impersonation dynamic false"

Most of them are 1 kb and contain the following text:
"Error 0 to send control flag 0 over to server."

Can anyone give me a hint? It's a Windows 2000 Server with SP2, english version.

Regards

'ello,

It appears to be some kind of string for RPC binding. It's a bit above my skill level (and attention span) but maybe these two MSDN articles will help. Without knowing all of the applications that you have on the server, it's impossible to determine if it's not the result of something you have loaded on there.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/rpc/ov-secur_4flg.asp

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/rpc/pr-dtype_9omf.asp

I'd consider verifying that you have all of the latest W2K security patches on (less W2K SP3...committee's still out on that one) and possibly a virus scan...just to be safe.

Thanks,
Rick
