I have a sonicwall pro firewall setup and I am connecting via the net using their VPN client software. My problem is that when the client software is installed on a computer, Outlook and Outlook express are unable to access our mail server which is on the DMZ of our network. In addition to this my OWA (outlook Web Access) will not connect when the address is input to the web browser. As soon as I yank out the client software and adapters there is no problem. I am at a loss as to what is causing this problem and Sonic has not been helpful. Please Help!

This may have something to due with your network setup more than Exchange. I don't have enough info about your network, so I am going to make a couple of guesses at your setup.
So what causes the problem?
A:1. Make sure you have a route to go to the DMZ from the VPN.
A:2. Make sure you allow the address range handed out by the VPN (or static address) is allowed to get to your DMZ thourgh your firewall.

Thanks for your help, but I found the problem. As per usual it was an easy fix. It turns out that with the sonicwall client, when connecting to your isp a second tcp/ip session is created with your firewall. This second session was causing the problem and what I neede to do was right click on the client icon in the toolbar and simply deactivate the security policy. Once I was done retrieving email I simply re-activated the vpn client session.
