Thanks Sean Stecker 11-26-2000, 06:24 PM What do you mean "set the time zone for login"? Do you want the time zone editor to pop up at logon, or do you want to set the time based on the geographic location from where the person logged on? Or something completely different? Remember, if the closest DC is too busy, the client will authenticate to another server. If my DC in Argentina is getting hammered, I can potentially authenticate to the DC in London, thereby really messing up my time zone. How many clients, and how many different time zones are we talking about here? Let's get an idea, so that we can come up with a different plan. Do you use SMS or another Management application in your network? If so we can push the time updates to the clients, real simple. I use DameWare's NT utilities also (www.dameware.com), they have a remote command line utility in there, also a real easy way to update them. You can force your clients to authenticate to their closest DC with some utilities, but that is not the optimal solution here. Post some general info about your clients and the amount of time zones, etc. Then we'll put together a package to update your clients. Thanks Bryan 12-06-2000, 03:54 PM The time Service in the NT resource kit is time zone sensitive. Meaning you can install the service on a machine in California, and have the time service server(host) on the east coast to sync off of, and the service is intelligent enough to adjust based on the time zones. This is assuming the time zone on your client is setup correctly to begin with. ------------ Sean Stecker at 11/27/00 11:07:08 PM In order to get that to work, you'll create more trouble than it is worth.
