I have an intersting challenge ahead of me !!!
We currently run Exchange 5.5 on a single server attached to an EMC Symmetrix. All the Exchange transaction logs and pub / priv files are on logical drives on the Symmetrix itself accessed through FAs.
I now have to replace the server hardware with a new server and want to find out if there is any way of doing this without having to backup and restore the data. Can I tell Exchange during installation to use the existing data that is st on the Symm, or do I have to foillow the full server migration procedure.
I am guessing that the setup.exe /r switch will help, but can find very little documentation about it.
Apprecaite any help / opinions.
