After some nasty things happened to my HD and ScanDisk fixed them, my IE stopped playing Flash movies located on remote servers. But the problem isn't that the Flash plugin isn't installed. It is installed and it plays local movies (on my HD) without a problem.
Upgrading to IE 6 didn't help. Neither did the IE repair tool.
