We are running Exchange Server 5.5. We are using Backup Exec Agent to backup the database.
On a weekly basis, this server completly locks. On re-boot, the Enchange database gets corrupted.
We have done all of the hardware diagnostics, nothing was amiss. We then moved it to a new server, again the problem re-appeared.

We have started from scratch, and used Xmerge to rebuild the database. Again, crash.

Microsoft has only been able to get things back running. They have provided no direction as to the cause.

Any ideas?

mate all I can offer is to start an elimination process, try to build the server as a clean install( withuot any backup/antivirus/addins software) and se how you go, step by step add the third party software till you'll find your problem

We are using 5.5 with backup exec 8 and had similar problems to yours. As previously suggested do a clean instal. Contact Veritas for the correct version of the agent. run eseutil and test the integrity of the databases then instal the agent for backup exec. Sounds simple but it works with both Exec 7 and 8. I imagine that you have defraged the databases !
