getting rid of sp3 and my modem won't shut up

Is there a way of getting rid of sp3? can you just delete the folder or is there an uninstall?

Also does anyone know how I can get my modem to be quiet? I've tried turning the modem speaker off but it doesn't seem to work. It all started when I changed to Win2kpro. I had to install a new driver but when I'm online it makes that fax, staticy noise.

Ragarding the SP3,
You can uninstall it via the "add / remove programs ",
(assuming you chose to archive the original files during the setup...)
