Hello All

I recently posted a message to this forum concerning my Compaq ML530 Proliant Server with lots of memory and processor. When trying to logon the initial blank green logon screen would appear as if it was going to load a desktop but never does. I just sits there, you can ping it, access it's resources however you cannot run event viewer which is strange. The server is a primary sms site server and a domain controller. To come out of this condition you have to reboot. However, I left my self logged on last night and hoped that I would be able to access it this morning but in it's 'hung' state, as I was 'on the other side' so to speak.Well this was the case and there were some interesting discoveries which someone might have seen before.
No CTL ALT DLT - couldn't do this at all, although you can coose the option from start menushutdown , had a look in task manager - all ok memory wise and cpu wise. Couldn't run any command line tools what so ever. or event manager. I know now I will have to reboot to get it back to normal. has anyone seen this before ?

Did you install or change anything on the system near the time the system started 'hanging?'

It sounds like a driver, service, or NT process might be hanging up while starting.
