Here is the problem I am having.
Our current exchange server is running NT 4.0 and Exchange 5.5. It is old and needs to be replaced. I wish to move it over to a new machine that has Windows 2000 server and Exchange 5.5. Everything has been fine so far except for using an exchange client from the outside. The old machine can do this without a problem. When I test the new server I shut down the old server and give the new one the same outside IP address. I can send and receive through web mail and POP3, but not using a outside client to connect. When I try and set up a new outlook profile on an outside machine to find the new server I have tried both the IP address (works with web mail) and the standard e.g.. (mail.business.com). this works with POP3. For some reason when you are resolving a name with the new server it just doesn't work. It doesn't find anything. It asks you for your login and password, but after that it says the server is unavailable.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
