Slow access to files

Really annoying problem this!

I got a pIII 850, 392mb ram, win2k etc ..... My problem is mainly Office. If I double click, say a Word Docu, it takes ages to finally kick in and load the file - but it's fine when I first login, only say after 20 mins or so. The really weird thing is, lactually oading up word or excel or any of the programs - is fine, at any point, just double clicking the files which is beginning to irritate me! I may reinstall, just seems silly to have to. Also some setup programs never load either, and get stuck on around 20% before the setup prog actually loads!!

Just really annoying....if anyone has any bright ideas, please get back to me!! I don't have anything out of the ordinary installed either..

check to see if outlook logging is on. Even if you aren't using outlook, but it is on your machine, it creates a log file that grows each time you open an office file.
