Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have 2 locations separated by the Atlantic ocean and the Internet. Fortunately, they both collect air miles and have T1 connections. A VPN link spans the T1 connections.
The US site has the corporate mail server configured with an IMC and it collects the external email. UK users authenticate with the US domain so they can retrieve mail. Nasty.

My vision is a second server, in it's own site, in it's own domain, having external email routed from the USA's IMC and sending external email via it's own outbound IMC. Does this seem sensible or is there a more tried ad tested way of achieving my goal?

If I go my way, after configuring a site connector and directory replication, do I need to do anything to get external email routed from the USA site to the UK site users?

Apologies for the verbosity and thanks in advance.
