OWA Setup on a seperate server than Exchange
I am trying to setup outlook web access on an IIS server seperate from the exchange server,
both servers are in the same domain.
I have read many help docs on the net Microsoft and others pertaining to possible causes of
the following error while trying to log onto outlook web access, none of the docs have
helped.
I attempt to log onto my OWA server....
i.e. (This is the IIS server)
http://www.domain.com/exchange
user name and password prompt, then I get the following:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01a8'
Object required: 'Application(...)'
/exchange/logon.asp, line 12
NOTE: WHEN OWA IS INSTALLED ON THE EXCHANGE SERVER AND IT IS ACCESSED ALL APPEARS TO WORK
FINE.
Any solutions.
Both PC's
WinNT Enterprise Server SP6a + Hotfixes
Exchange 5.5 SP4 on MAIN Server
IIS 4 (NOT USED)
WinNT Enterprise Server SP6a + Hotfixes
OWA Component of Exchange Only, + SP4
IIS 4

I got this exact error today. After trying all the other solutions listed in Technet I finally reinstalled OWA. It worked. All of my original settings remained in tact.

Thanks for your input Joanie.
STILL NOT QUITE OWA!
All suggestions welcome.
Before your reply I have completely removed OWA 5.5 from the server and re-installed several times with no change. I have edited the specified registry keys as per technet articles, no change. I have verified that the internet user, IIS user account on web server is allowed access to the exchange server, no change. I have used the administrators account to logon on, no change. I have checked directory permissions, no change.
The information on setting up OWA is very limited. I have followed the canned Microsoft installation readme files instructions, I walks you through screenshot by screenshot, I have entered all that it asks and re-verified the settings, still I am unable to install and have work, OWA on my WEB server seperate from my exchange server.
As I stated before, I have installed OWA on the exchange server, with the same instructions, and OWA works. For security reasons I am electing to NOT have OWA on our exchange server.

I've had this error since upgrading the web server to W2K. I have also been through all the Microsoft recommend fix's (reg changes, security, uninstall and re install) but still get this error.
I don’t have the solution, but someone must.
