I have a mixed exchange environment with exchange 55 and exchange2000 under
one organisation and one site.
I have one default routing group. I want mail addressed to a domain (eg, hotmail.com) to be routed out through one of the exchange2000 server, let call this server ex2kgw.
So I created one smtp connector with the address space of
hotmail.com and make ex2kgw the local bridgehead server, I configured a smart host uing IP address (eg [10.1.1.1]) . This smart host is our Internet service provider. I also configure all workstation can relay or connect to the SMTP virtual server of ex2kgw.
Currently I have a problem with the routing. Mail was able to route from any exchange2000 server that has mailboxes that sent to "hotmail.com" to ex2kgw. But mail was not being sent out from ex2kgw as recipients did not receive the mail. And the worst part is, I
cannot find the mail being stuck in any queue. Somehow the mail was lost.
Does my above design work? Did I miss out something?

Thank you all for any advise given.

Best Regards
