Currently our TS is NT4, SP6, no Citrix. Raid 5 setup with
2 partitions, C and D. OS on C and configured via computer
policy to store users profiles on D.
I know that a fresh install is better than an upgrade, but
I still am trying to decide if it would be better to
upgrade the TS from NT4 to 2000 or to create a new W2K TS
and migrate the users to it. What I don't know is how I
can set up a new box without having to manually set the
permissions on each users profile folder.
Are there any whitepapers about this type of upgrade?

Hi Jonathan,

Have you considered copying the user profile folder to a network share with the resource kit utility SCOPY, and then copying back to your new W2K box ?

SCOPY will keep the NTFS permissions intact. I have not tried this utility but it may be an answer.

Regards,

Tim
