Suddenly I'm getting a ton of messages on my NT4sp6 BDCs
and PDC saying "The session setup from the computer
<pcname> failed to authenticate. The name of the account
referenced in the security database is <pcname_>. The
following error occurred: %%5.
The PC named in the message is always different. I've
gotten a few of these before, but now I'm getting
bombarded by them. I haven't changed anything on the DC's.
Technet provides no clue. The apparent cause there is that
the pc account is out of synch and you need to run netdom.
In the past, when I've received these (they were rare),
that was true and the user couldn't log in to the domain.
But the users on these PCs are having no problems.
Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Thanks but I already found this information on Technet. It's no help as if the trust relationship between the PC and the domain had failed, the user wouldn't be able to login to the domain. I know because I've seen that happen before. But the users are having no trouble in these cases. The only evidence of this is the error messages in the server event logs.

Hi,
May not help but certainly a possibility if you have a very large amount of lcients being serverd by a few DCs

I seem to remeber this in the past somewhere in a previous job. We eneded up having to readd the computers to the domain. I don't remeber getting to the root of the problem but I also don't think the problem reoccurred after we readded the computers to the domain.
