Hi there - I've seen many questions on this issue but no answers as of yet. How do you set up IIS 5 so that you do not allow Anonymous ftp but rather force users to log in with a valid userID and password?

So far I've added the test ftp user with Modify permissions to ftproot, no luck. I've tried adding the test ftp user as an Operator, no luck.

Microsoft's documentation seems to only support setting up a *different* anonymous ftp account, but not for allowing authenticated users to access the ftp site.

If anyone has any ideas or any ideas as to where to look, please let me know!

Thank you very much in advance,

Darren Hutchings

I had a similar problem, I finally found out what was going on by using DOS based ftp. In my case it turned out if you prefix the username with the domain name eg domainuser, it logged in ok using our domain accounts If you just used username it failed everytime. There does not seem to be any way of telling the ftp server its part of a specified domain whereas you can tell IIS it is via the directory security tab. Anyway I know have my users merrily logging in and using FTP services a few did moan about having to prefix logins with the domain but after a slap they usually fall in line :)
