I'm trying to set my firewall and Exchange server up to allow remote Outlook connections. I've read about 10 different MS support docs and have followed the instructions to statically map ports, and have opened those ports on the firewall, but still have not been able to make this happen. The client (Outlook) appears to login successfully, but times out. I have gotten rid of everything except TCP/IP on the client side RPC mappings, and that has cut down the amount of time it takes but it still does not work.

How do I tell if my static port mappings are working? Does anyone else have direct experience with this problem? I am using a Sonicwall firewall and Exchange 2000 (mixed mode) and Outlook 2000.

Thanks,
John
