ad schema not updated after install HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a new exchange 2000 server installed on small network, installed whith admin rights to everything, DID NOT RUN forestprep or domainprep, according to white papers no need to do if enough permissions, now when I am at DC I do not see any email options for users but when I am at email server I can see and modify email options, email server is not a domain controller, I tried running forest and domain prep after, but still no luck, email seems to be working fine but still have problem with publec folders, I was thinking of making the email server a DC w/ Global catalog to try and resolve issue. need help or opinions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI-

You will not ever be able to see email options on ANY server besides one running E2K. I ended up calling MS on this at one point and found it out the hard ($250) way.
