I'm having an interesting issue with my Exchange 5.5 SP4 server and some Outlook clients.

We have resources set up in Outlook (meeting rooms) to use when booking things into the Calendar. All users are set with Author permission or higher on the resources. I have several users who, when trying to book one of the resources with an attachment in the meeting request, get the following error:


'The operation failed. Unable to directly book a resource for this meeting.'

If they remove the attachment and try to book, they can book the appointment without issue. The above error occurs only when an attachment is involved, and it occurs every time an attachment is involved. This only happens with a handful of users. I've used my administrator account and a dummy account with no special access to try and duplicate the issue, but I cannot make it happen. Interestingly, I deleted one of the problem users from the Exchange server and then recreated her mailbox; she still had the problem at that point.

I am curious if you have ever seen this problem, and might have some insight into how to resolve it. I've been in touch with Microsoft, and been bounced back and forth between the Exchange and Outlook groups several times and am getting nowhere with them.
