We have 5 user licence for Quickbooks Pro 2001 and have recently upgraded our hardware to a client/server network using a Windows 2000 Small Business server and Windows XP workstations. The Quickbooks data is stored in a folder on the server shared for access to all users/groups and mapped as an S: drive. When the first user logs in in multi-user mode eveything is OK, when the next user attempts to log in there is an error message stating that "the ****.qbw file is not a Quickbooks data file or it is damaged". This is not true because any user can log in to this file in single user mode .... the error message only occurs when the second user logs in when the first user is connected. Transferring the data file to one of the XP workstations hard drive resolves the problem, but obviously we would prefer all our data on the server, for ease of backup. Have tried installing IPX/SPX on server and workstations without any positive result. Is it just that Windows 2000 SBS and Quickbooks Pro 2001 don't like each other. Anyone got any ideas??
