554 5.6.1 Body type not supported by Remote Host

I have changed my exchange setup moving from an exchange 5.5SP4 connected directly to the internet with win2K RRAS and specials ports to IIS5 SMTP service forwarding to exchange server

Since then postmaster has started receiving delivery errors with the following information.

Reporting-MTA: dns;smtp.domain.com
Received-From-MTA: dns;plantain.ease.lsoft.com
Arrival-Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2001 04:29:05 +1300

Final-Recipient: rfc822;user@domain.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.6.1
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;554 5.6.1 Body type not supported by Remote Host

They all appear to be from mail lists. I tried changing character set settings on the Exchange IMC but these have not been sucessful.

I haven't found anything on technet either

Any suggestions ???

Stephen,
Are you saying that the IIS5 box now forwards the messages out to the internet?
If so, you most likely need to disable the 8bitmime verb on that box. Q257569 shows you how to do this for an E2K box. I am sure you just need to find a similar entry for the IIS box.
If this is not it, then I don't know :-)
