Hi All

Got a win2 sp2 DC with a sony dds4 tape drive.

Set up the backups which are running ok. Got 2 other servers which are basically app servers for a telephony app. Don't need a lot of protection.

One's on nt4 the other 2k.

Scheduled a weekly rdisk on the nt4 box and system state backup on the 2k disk. Shared the directories these are backing up to - mapped drives to those shares on the server that has the tape drive.

Included those drives in the backups.

Question:

How do I go about restoring these 2 remote servers if anything happens to them?

The other servers are member servers - no replication.

I'm basically just trying to backup the OS and program files. What I was thinking of was:

1. Ghosting the member servers
2. Any probs do a ghost restore
3. Restore the files on the server that has a tape drive (ie the registry backups)
that will give me the backup files.
4. Copy them back onto the server that's glitched.

5. Restore them using the local backup prog.

Will this work - any quicker ways of achieving what I want? Unfortunately decent software like backup exec isn't an option :(

TIA
