I have several sites (4 to be exact) within our area or responsibility that are having problems with or applying the MS01-057 (Q313576engi386.exe), version 05.05.77.2655, date 5 Dec 2001 patch. All sites have the exact issue and are configured by different Administrators so we know this is not an Administrator issue, perhaps.
As mentioned in the “MS01-057 Specially Formed Script in HTML Mail can execute in Exchange 5.5 OWA” for successful installation, the patch requires that the OWA server have IE 5.0 or greater installed and IIS Version 4.0 on Windows NT SP5 or greater.
All sites that experience problems have at a minimum IE 5.5 SP2 installed and IIS 4.0 SP 6a. The Exchange Server has SP4. We have verified installation to include verified file versions, but what happens is the clients who access the OWA server can not read view their inbox messages unless they do a reply at which time the client can view their messages. If the sites de-install the patch reference above, there are no problems what so ever. Does anyone have an idea or solution to get around this problem?
All sites have attempted to re-install all components referenced and ended up with the same results across the board.
Thank you in advance for any assistance,
Tina M. Long
