Cannot Verify Trust

We have setup a two-way trust between our NT domain and 2000 AD domain. The trust works fine, you can access all resources etc... But, when you try to verify the trust from a Win 2000 DC on another subnet than the NT PDC, it says it cannot find the PDC. But when you verify it from a DC on the same subnet it verify's okay. The reason we need this to work is we will be migrating from the NT domain to 2000. We plan to have the Win 2000 DC with the migration tool on a different subnet than the pdc. We have tried several changes to the lmhost and dns, even changed some settings on the routers. Any help or ideas of what to try would be most appreciated.

Try the WINS we had the same type problem and it turned out to be a wins problem.
