I want to know if RTVSCANE.EXE is a system process that runs on all my workstations or its a Norton Anti-Virus process. Its eating up 98% of CPU on some workstations(NT4.0) and does not allow me to end it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi There,

I may be wrong, but I think that's it's the Norton Antivirus for Exchange process.

It's definetly Norton, but if I recall correctly, it's the Exchange module.

If you have teh Norton for Exchange running, you need to configure the mode to NOT be "mapi/vapi" rather the 3rd option which is "mapi mode"

Hope it works out!

Paul

Thanx Paul. I found out the process is Real Time Virus Scanning(RTVSCAN). It came with Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition which enables Real Time scanning for Files, Lotus notes and Exchange. I just disabled those services and everything came back to normal.
