Background - I work in a small office that runs a server using Server 2003, 10 license, and 8-10 users at any one time. When I started, server was already set up by someone else. I'm the guy who knows the most amongst us, which I guess makes me dangerous. Anyway, I have lots of questions but will limit this to most immediate problem.

User A's computer (Win 2000) was running really slow. So we decided to switch User B's computer over to User A. User B's computer is fairly new, running XP. Now, User A cannot log on to User B's computer as User A. So User A cannot get at any of her settings, etc. I tried changing name of User B's computer to User A but it won't let me because it tells me User A already exists. So I guess to keep this simple - how does one switch user computers where each computer already has been made part of the domain? Hope this is clear!

I don't know if it matters but what also seems weird, at least to me, is that the Actice Directory does not list each and every user. Is that right?

Thanks for your help!:)

Are there other users that can try to log in to that system to see if the issue is with the one user account or with the system itself? (The original user had no issues - are you sure they were using a DOMAIN account or a local one on that system?)

Also, try an account that is a domain adminstrator to see if that has any effect as well

I think the problem should fairly resolve if you provide both user A and user B local administrative rights on User B's computer...Also make users part of the domain group..
