I need some feedback on this one.
I am attempting to restore an Exchange server to test the database.
I have circular logging disabled on the server.
The priv.edb and pub.edb restores with out any issue, but the logfiles will not restore.
When I go in and copy them over from the restore to the server and then try to start the information store it plays all of the log files but the last one, then returns an error stating that the log files header is bad.
I think it is an issue with the backup product not Exchange.
I have attempted several restores form several backups with no luck..
Please send any advice, I am pretty strong with exchange but not ARC serve 2000.
Thanks!!!

Maybe speak with Computer Associates Help Desk. 1-800-645-3042 cost is $95 per incident. They also have free e-mail support at their web site esupport.ca.com. I have both Exchange 5.5 and ArcServe 2000, but have never tried a full restore. I have be able to restore mailboxes (brick level).

Restoring exchange has never been an easy task on that database level. When I have done the restore I have done the following:
1) Built a test network with Domain controller brough off of the production network and the exchange server with same os and host name.
2) Installed exchange user the setup /r option which is in recovery mode. This will not install any logs or databases. Service pack exchange to exactly the same as the production server. Configure arcserve agent correctly...
3) Start up just the System attendant
3) Restore database from ARCserve 2000 to the exchange server.
4) When finish shut off System attendant and then start up the Directory service...this will likely fail. Restart it...it should come up.
5) Start Information store.
The problem you stated below sounds as if the are logs already setup before you do the restore.
