Hi everyone

I was wondering if it is posible to setup an internet email server that responds to an IP address that is not registered to an internet domain name.

Most email servers should be able to do this fine. You would just set it up like you would any other domain in the email server software, just that you would use the ip instead.

It is thought that all email servers should have that option enabled to be RFC compliant. (Then again it is just an RFC)

5.2.17 Domain Literals: RFC-822 Section 6.2.3

A mailer MUST be able to accept and parse an Internet domain literal whose content ("dtext"; see RFC-822) is a dotted- decimal host address. This satisfies the requirement of Section 2.1 for the case of mail.

An SMTP MUST accept and recognize a domain literal for any of its own IP addresses.
