Inbound queue conversion slow

Inbound queue on Exchange 5.5 processing slow. Most messages are taking over an hour to convert/deliver. What can I look at that may give me a clue as to why this is happening.

ctrl , alt, del and look at the performance tab. DO you have enough physical memory. the store .exe process is the information store for exchange and will eat every ounce of ram it can.

We also have a problem with message conversion once it has been received, if you do find a solution I would love to hear it.

Our exchange is a dedicated IMC/MTA with 1GB of memory, the Store only uses about 100mb give or take (which insn't suprising given that there are no mailboxes!).

Yet we have REAL issues with slow Internet mail conversion :(
Once converted they are delivered to the appropriate mailbox server (inter or extra site) very quickly.
