Exch 5.5 services wont start after OS HDD errors

Hi all, hope someone can help or give a few pointers. have a 5.5 server in 1 org with 2 others server with diferent names in the same org. this one had the C drive with the OS get a load of errors and after a lockup and reboot the services wont start. it starts the attendant and thats it. now before i consign it to the scrap heap and rebuild on a new box, i was wondering if there was a way to quick temp fix so i can migrate users and data to anotehr box in the same org ?? or can i do a fresh install on the new box using same name + org etc etc and after deleteing the old server from the org re add this new box to the existing 2 servers ?? oh and both databases are fine and intact they were on a raid 5 set on separate disks. i use backup exec 7.3.
the errors in the event viewer wernt much help, 1066 and thats about it.
any help before the new box turns up would be greatfully appreciated

sorry error 7001 on all the services failing in system log and 1002 with the following in app log

The Microsoft Exchange Server database (EDB) could not be initialized and returned error -550. Unrecoverable error, the directory can't continue

bugger isnt it ??
