I am having a problem with win sbs 2003. I can not connect with a pc running xp prof. Every time I try it says, no users available or can not get a list from server check NIC. But i use the same account settings to test and am able to connect with win 2000 prof machines. I am very confused. Please help! Is there no way in xp to just select a domain and enter in user name and password with out going to //servername/connectcomputer/

Hi Jaymz, I am a little confused with what your exact problem is.

Can you repost with a little more detail?

Sorry will try and make it clearer. I have a windows 2003 SBS. It is just been set up and I have created the user lists and all seemed fine. I have a Windows 2000prof machine setup as a clinet. I changed the log on domain and logged on 100% fine to the server no hassels. So then i tried to connect a Windows xp machine to the network and it told me to go to add computer to network. I went there and it then asked for the User name and password. Every time though i click enter it tells me it can not find a user list or my user name and password in incorrect, check adapter settings. So i go check the settings on the server and i have made no mistakes in the spellings or any thing. I test from another xp machine and use the account from the windows 2000 machine as i know they are working and it gives the same error(at the time of test the win2000 was not connected to the network). I am really confused by this, is there a different protocol or something i need to use to connect a XP machine to the server.

How many NIC's are involved with the server? If two, then DNS has to point to the second NIC.
Do you have enough CAL's for all the machines you want to add?

Thanks every one. The problem was with the NIC's :(

I was running 2 and think it was using the wrong one. It is working now, thanks!
