Bandwidth Consumption Analysis…

Please look at the graph on the attached PNG file.

I need some techie help with analyzing this MRTG log, my questions are:

1. The outgoing traffic from our LAN seems to be much more than the incoming – is this normal?
2. With the increased level towards the end of the graph, do you suggest I get more bandwidth, if so, how much more do you suggest?

Any other advice would be really appreciated.

It is normal in most cases to see more outgoing traffic (requests) than incoming traffic (replies and / or inital calls to internal internet facing servers) but I would question why the sudden jump; did you gain a lot of users or suddenly require more outbound access?

If not I would investigate whether or not you have virus/worm/trojan traffic on your network or (technically) worse a P2P server established, hosting MP3s, cracked software or other warez.
