I need help with windows NT passwords and local versus domain access?

I bought a used server that has nt 4.0 and want to learn the os... can't access. Catch 22 because I want to get MCSE (or MCSA at least) but I can't study without accessing the os...

i have admin password but it only wants to connect to domain... want to connect locally.

Does this make sense?

Please realize that I am not trying to steal this for financial gain or anything like that... I own win2k pro and win98 that I bought with my own money. I can't afford win2k server just to study. If I pass the exams, I will certainly be recommending MS products to my employer (once I find one that is).
Thanks for understanding my dilemma.

If the machine in question was a domain controller then you are out of luck, they get their local SAMS replaced with domain SAMS as soon as they are built. If you drop down the domain list at the logon prompt you should see the machine name as one of the options. Select this and then use the admin user and password that you were given.

Hope this helps.
