I'm running Exch 5.5 on NT 4.0 SP5 (as BDC) - using Backup Exec 8.5 with Exch Agent and IDR. I tried the following disaster recovery procedure; it worked, but I don't get why. Any ideas?
- Create a new BDC on domain
- Take offline and promote to PDC on seperate network
- Recover Exchange server to similar box (Dell Poweredge 2300) on new network, using IDR
- Stop DS
- Restore IS from tape
- Delete recovered DS
- Restore DS from tape
- Delete DS checkpoint file
- Start DS; Start IS
- Stop all services except System Attendant
- Run ISINTEG -PRI, ISINTEG - PUB, and MTACHECK (all OK)
- Try to run ISINTEG -patch, but get DS_E_COMMUNICATIONS_PROBLEM; won't run
- Start all services - everything's fine!
Shouldn't the GUID's be wrong without ISINTEG -patch? Do you have any ideas how this worked? Do you know how to get ISINTEG -patch to run? Should I run it?
