My exchange server 5.5 keeps hanging after every 40 hours. I looked the event viewer and everything seems to be Ok. I can still ping the server, mapped to C or D drive from my pc and able to browse those folders while exchange server hangs. I'm currently running service packs 4 on the server. Recently I received a few messages "D:EXCHSRVRimcdatainK1FXFM27 is infected with HTML.MimeExploit virus" from the exchange server.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Howard, The MIME exploit is what worms such as Nimbda and Klez use to execute their payload as soon as outlook previews the message. It does not mean that you actually have one of these viruses but your scanner did find the code used to deploy them. You need to grab the newest accumulated patch for IE and load it on your machines. I don't know if it will stop the hanging of your server but at least someone will not be able to attack you in that fashion.

Take Care,

Dave B
