Hi All
I need to restore a single user's mailbox. We have Exchange 5.5 sp3. We don't have a backup that has the capability to restore a single mailbox. Is there anything I can do or am I screwed?

Please help.

I do believe you're screwed . . . sorry for the bad news. This sounds like one of those "learn from your mistakes" . . . and get a solution in place that gives you this ability before someone else asks for you to restore their mailbox as well.

Again, sorry for the bad news . . .

Good Luck!

Exchange Server comes with a tool called Exmerge (in the /SUPPORTUTILS directory) that should do the trick.

Also, Microsoft has some information on restoring Exchange mailboxes:

http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/techinfo/administration/2000/MailbxRec.doc

http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/techinfo/administration/2000/MailboxRecover.asp

Good luck!

It's been a few years since I've touched an Exchange Server but, If you do have a backup of the information Store and an extra pc with enough space you can do this. Install Exchange on this PC (off of the network or domain), and restore the information store. Install the email client and export the user's email to a .pst. From there you can do what you want. Oh, and appologize alot to the user if you deleted their mailbox.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do but our stupid backup does not want to cooperate. I'm having problem restoring the information store. I know If this goes through I'll get the mailbox back.
