Files left locked

Windows 2000 SP3

I am having periodic problems with files (mostly images) becoming unable to be deleted. They state there is a sharing violation however I know there is no one using them. I kill all services and re-boot but still get this sharing violation. This includes the folder there are in. Has any had this happen and if so what was the solution to the problem.

Have you found a solution?

I have the same problem. Sharing violation, and a message that says that "the file may be in use"....

I cannot see any connections to the folder/file in question.

Have either of you tried to restart the system in safe mode and tried to delete the files in question?
