Hello,
I am more of a software developer than a network engineer or Exchange administrator, so please bear with me...
I have a home network with a single domain controller. On the same machine I have installed Exchange 2000 (sp2). I used ForestPrep and DomainPrep as the install documentation suggests.
My problem is, I can't seem to send or receive email. I always get back an undeliverable message with code #4.4.7. I have tried turning off my firewall software and that did not help. Also, I have a single router that sits between my DC and DSL modem. I ocassionally receive error 2102 in the event log, but that is supposedly a benign error that is common in single DC setups.
Is there any sort of utility that I can use to track the emails and see where they are getting hung up? Any good troubleshooting documents out there that might lead me to the cause of my anxiety?
Thanks for any help!
-Tom.

Ok, I just found out that my ISP (Earthlink) blocks all port 25 traffic.
***SIGH***.
Any suggestions on an inexpensive internet connection that will allow me
to have a static IP address, with practically no other needs? I don't
want web hosting. I don't want 8 different email accounts. I have my own
web server, my own email server, etc. I just want a connection to the
interenet for my network, but I'm a small business so I can't afford my
own ISDN or T1 line from the phone company.
I know this is no longer completely on-topic, but I thought some of you
might be in a similar situation.
Thanks,
-Tom.

I am assuming you have already tried DSL in your area. If not, try your local phone company for a plan with static addresses or try speakeasy.net. You may have to spend $ 50 to $ 60 /month, but it'll pay off.
