Anybody use exchange with 200-1000 users?

I am trying to convince my managment to purchase an exchange server.
Our systems people have said it is a good program if you have under 200 users.
We have about 500 users now, but expect to grow to 1000 by next year.

Does anyone use exchange with more than 200 people (I know the answer is yes)?
I need to hear from existing sites in order to convince my management.

I worked on a project team that developed and implemented a migration from Davinci/Global MHS to Exchange. We planned on having about 10 servers dedicated to Exchange, but in the interim we utilized two big boxes with 1500 users each. We had 3000 users online with more servers and users in the works. That was just our SITE. The organization had six sites with much more than 3000 users at each site.

One thing to keep in mind is that Microsoft has more than 22,000(give or take) people working around the world. What does your think that microsoft uses for e-mail?

Yes, I work in the Aerospace Industry and my firm has 15,000+ users(and growing) with around 900 - 1000 users on each server (NT3.51/4 MSX 4 )

I am currently on a project that has already rolled out approx. 5000 clients and I am currently scheduling a rollout of approx. 2600 more at the same company. There is Win95-Outlook97/98, Winnt 4.0-Outlook97/98, OS/2 Warp3-OWA from I.E. 3.03. So, in short, it works just fine
