My PC has got preinstalled Windows 98 (FS being FAT32). It has got only one partition.
What are the steps that I need to follow in order to install Windows NT4.0(doen`t recognise FAT 32).
I need to have both Windows 98 and Nt 4.0

What you need to do is to delete your FAT32 partition and to create a new
partition with FAT.Then you can install WIN98 and then install NT in a
seperate directory. This will give you a option to boot the operating system of your choice.

You need to reformat your hard drive and keep a small 20 meg c: partition for your system partion. I would then make two additional partions one for NT and the other for Win98. Insatll operating systems in each partion and your good to go. You could probably use Partition Magic or some other software to avoid having to reinstall Win98 but Nt must have a fat partition or NTFS partion to boot off of. On this partition the files Boot.ini, NTDETECT.COM. and NTLDR must reside.
