when i enable logging on iis 4 i donot get any choices (the dropdown menu is empty) can any one tell me as to what is wrong

You need to register the IIS Logging dlls. There a islog.dll, iscomlog.dll logui.ocx.
Run regsvr32 against each of these on the command line.
