I'm trying to get IIS 4 (on NT server 4/SP4) to support two
Frontpage webs at the top level. I.E two "root webs" if you like.

One will be on port 80 and the address is www.ao.bham.ac.uk with
the :80 implicit.

One will be www.ao.bham.ac.uk:5149 and will not be (generally)
browsable. (It will be where our various web content providers within
this Office will develop pages which will then be published to the root
site.)

The 5149 was chosen because it is not in any list of ports reserved
for anything else, 5148 is specified for the IIS web-based admin
site. I am using the MS Management Console to administer IIS.

I have set up the new web in MMC and specified the IP port as
5149. I then Started that web and everything seems as if it should be
fine.

Sadly it is not. I cannot connect to the site (I have turned browsing on
for setup purposes) with either a browser or FrontPage.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong or a good resource
would be very welcome.

Jim,

You may simply need to go to your FrontPage Server Administrator and reset the security on the FrontPage Webs. I have run into problems when I had installed service packs in the past including SP4 w/y2k fix on my IIS Web Server that has FP Webs installed.

Also, you may want to check this support page for I wrote for the supporting of Virtual Multiple Domains on one IP address in IIS 4 http://www.domain1.com/
As you will see this help was originally written for TZO which does a cool Dynamic DNS Service -- Very Cool Service!!
http://www.tzo.com - You can find this in the support area.

Good Luck
