The system has about 7 TB of file data on a SAN. Somewhere along the line certain "managers" removed admin and domain admin permissions from parts of the file structure "to protect it". When an attempt to RoboCopy (disk to disk) is made during a SAN reorg., even with domain admin rights, the job displays "access denied" on those directories.

Current planned work around is to backup to tape and restore to the new location. Should solve the permissions problem. But the job will take so long that files will get updated in the interim. Therefore we plan to copy again, looking for updated files only.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

How about taking ownership of all files over the weekend. It might take most of the weekend to do it.
