I want to completely turn off netbios in my Windows 2000 domain but I still have a few NT 4 workstations. NT4 relies on netbios to connect to Windows 2000 resources so I am trying to find a way I can still turn off netbios and allow the clients to still function normally. Does anyone have information on this? The Directory Services Client is not the solution by the way.

You need to leave it on as far as i know! Anything that is legacy needs it still. Maybe use lmhosts files?? But that would be laborious to say the least.

Have you tried setting the preferred DNS server in the settings on the NT4 workstations, or a default gateway pointing to the W2K server?
