I have an Intel P166 PC with 64 mb of RAM that I am using at home as an NT Server. I have SQL Sever 6.5 and IIS running on this box. When I open of NT Performance Monitor or SQL Performance Monitor and click on the Add Alert Icon it just hangs and I have to do an End Task to get out of it. Does anyone have anything I can try to remedy this problem. Thanks in Advance, Kevin.

I have had a similar situation on a production server and have had performance monitor counters disappear at the same time! What I think happened was that SP4 or Option Pack 4 renamed some of the perfmon counter files perfctrs.dll, perfh*, etc. in the WINNTSYSTEM32 directory to xxxx.old.
I found a Support online article at one point to describe this and the fix was to rename the .old to the .dll extension and everything returned to normal.
